If you run a business and you have a website, chances are your customers are looking you up online.
Some of them are certainly using their mobile phones while waiting for the bus, or even while sitting on their couches watching TV. They may be looking for your phone number, your address, or information about your products or services.
Who knows… If they don’t find the information they’re looking for, or if it’s just plain difficult to navigate your website on a mobile device, you could be losing an opportunity to service a client.
Don’t let that happen. Make your website mobile-friendly ASAP.
The technical term for a mobile-friendly website design is called “responsive web design“.
Responsive Web Design (RWD) is a technique which uses a fluid foundation in the core of the website development, which allows the website layout to adapt to screen/browser size and orientation.
If you are on a computer (PC or Mac), you can resize this window (by dragging the bottom-right corner of the browser window) and you will see the columns getting narrower, the images getting proportionately smaller, until they fit into a mobile device screen size. If you are reading this blog post in your email, here is a screenshot of what it looks like:
Some of the benefits of having a responsive website are:
- It saves time and money – you don’t have to maintain separate websites for desktops and mobile phones. Update the content in one page, and it will affect both desktop and mobile devices.
- Easy to iterate and modify – changes to the layout and behaviour of your website for any particular device can be easily done through the stylesheet (CSS).
Here at Stela Creative Services you will find a responsive website designer who can ensure your company’s website will look good across mobile devices and tablets, and make your company look good in the eyes of your customers!
